Overview

 

Our Plano, TX office is offering a student internship opportunity in their Public Involvement Group for Summer 2018.  This is a full-time position requiring 40 hours per week.   This role supports our Public Involvement Team with day-to-day project tasks and project or pursuit related research and marketing functions.  

 

HNTB does NOT pay for housing or relocation for this position.

 

Job Summary

Under close supervision, assists assigned department(s) and/or project(s) by performing basic and routine administrative support work and other related tasks which may reflect elements of standard post-secondary business curriculum, usually on a part-time, temporary, or co-op basis.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Performs administrative tasks which may be specific to a particular functional area of activity such as preparing reports, answering the phone, receiving messages, transmitting information, making copies, editing documents, handling routine inquires and making appointments.
  • May support multiple marketing functions for a defined product or service line. Perform activities including but not limited to coordinating program development, tracking of marketing campaigns to evaluate results and provide recommendations for future marketing promotions.
  • Participates in meetings and interfaces with various teams.
  • Assists management in analyzing various data.
  • Works on special projects and provides research as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities

 

Under close supervision, candidate will assist the public involvement and graphic design teams with a variety of assignments:

  • Writing, preparing and distributing project-related materials through a variety of print, electronic and social media formats and channels
  • Completion of routine records and reports related to public involvement meetings and public hearings
  • Assist with coordination of staff, client, community and other meetings (including planning, scheduling, meeting logistics, set up, tear down and other tasks as identified by public involvement director)
  • Assist with concept, design and production of print and multimedia materials for projects with graphics staff and vendors, including, working with graphics team to make recommendations to clients regarding design or print/multimedia materials

 

Basic Qualifications

High School Diploma/GED or equivalent plus working toward a BA/BS

Preferred Qualifications/Skills

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Journalism, Mass Communications, Communications Studies, Political Science, Social Media, Graphic Design or related area
  • Graduation date of December 2018 or later
  • Creative Suite CS6 (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), and social media skills are preferred, but not required
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work independently

  • Ability to prioritize work and multi-task

  • Strong writing skills

General Work Conditions

Office Environment: Work is generally performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to potentially unpleasant working conditions. Incumbent must have the ability to stand and sit frequently, and reach horizontally as well as vertically for overhead use.
