Overview

Our Indianapolis, IN office has a great opportunity for a Civil Engineering Student. This position is a Co-op Engineer role in our Water Group. Under close supervision, the co-op will assist assigned departments and/or projects by performing routine engineering-related tasks. This is a full-time position requiring 40 hours per week. This is a co-op student position and requires 3 -5 work sessions alternating with school sessions. The first work session will be Spring 2018.  Work term will be from January through May 2018.

 

Our co-ops assist in the Water department in either our project office, design office or in the construction field. 

Job Summary

Under close supervision, assists assigned department(s) and/or project(s) by performing basic engineering-related tasks which may reflect elements of standard post-secondary engineering curriculum, usually on a part-time, temporary, or co-op basis.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Assists engineer teams in various tasks and duties.
  • Assists Engineer with research, development and design of projects.
  • Assists Engineer with the preparation of engineering drawings and documents as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities

 

Assist in program management reporting and tasks

Assist in development of water resources reports
Perform basic engineering calculations
Organize information for use in drawings or other documents
Assist other engineers in various tasks and duties 

Create AutoCAD and ArcGIS drawings

Assist construction inspectors with field work

 

Basic Qualifications

High School Diploma/GED or equivalent plus current enrollment in an accredited post-secondary engineering program

Preferred Qualifications/Skills

  • Currently enrolled student in a Civil, Environmental, Agricultural or related Engineering program
  • Completion of 2 years of post-secondary engineering program 
  • Graduation date of December 2019 or later
  • Registered in your school's co-op program
  • Basic AutoCAD skills
  • Strong skills in the use of MS Office (Word and Excel)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Analytical skills with emphasis in systems approach to problem solving

General Work Conditions

Office Environment: Work is generally performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to potentially unpleasant working conditions. Incumbent must have the ability to stand and sit frequently, and reach horizontally as well as vertically for overhead use.
